The name Fatih Tuter may be new to some, but a few quick searches reveals that he has numerous releases under the alias Dubatech on Baum Records, Millions of Moments, Shoreless Recordings, Sublime Port. For this release on Silent Season, Fatih presents us with a masterfully produced selection of ambient (big A ambient) dub-techno. This is a niche within the dub-techno genre that Silent Season seems to fit very well, geared towards the headphone/home-listening experience rather than the dance floor.
This album is the first installment of a two releases for Fatih on Silent Season, since the addition of the remixes makes for a longer, more diverse collection of music. Fatih’s music is a smooth, light and dreamy take on the dub-techno genre, suggested by the albums title Wide and Shallow. Filled with fluttering synth pads and a subtle 4/4 kick providing the backbone, this music is more for introspective thought and relaxation than hitting the dancefloor. Fatih’s tracks are fluid and stand together wonderfully as a body of work on there own, but with the addition of the remixes we truly have something special here. The likes of Yagya, Havantepe, Xoki and relapxych.0 have all contributed remixes of different tracks, each remix following the original version. This is where the individual artistry of each producer really shines through to the attentive listener, as the selection of samples and choice of effects is as unique to each producer as a fingerprint. This is perfect music for your headphones or late night lounging. Look out for more soon from Silent Season!
